Job purpose
To provide a professional and efficient VAT and indirect tax advisory service to business clients and other staff.
To assume a leading role in the development of the VAT team to grow the business through marketing events and assist with the expansion of the VAT client base.
Job responsibilities
Carry out professional indirect tax consultancy by:
* advising clients and partners with regard to VAT, including changes to legislation and practice
* meeting with clients
* dealing with correspondence and telephone calls
* completing comprehensive VAT reviews
Enable partners and staff to enhance their VAT awareness by:
* liaising with staff, assisting and advising where necessary
* assisting the firm's training function, as required
Contribute to successfully extracting maximum value for both the firm and its clients from the VAT services delivered whilst managing risk appropriately for both the client and the firm.
Manage the successful delivery of VAT projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical/business driven approach is taken.
Liaise and negotiate with HMRC on behalf of clients.
Develop the firms business by:
* gaining experience and expertise in market sectors and service areas
* promoting the business to contacts
* assisting with conducting seminars and conferences and writing articles for professional press
Build a network of contacts both internally and externally.
Proactively manage existing clients to identify and win new work assignments.
Contribute to winning new clients by undertaking business development and marketing initiatives such as client pitches.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and provide high levels of client service.
Work closely with other members of the Co-Tax practice to exchange information and develop client service.
Contribute to building and developing a high calibre VAT support team.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
* ATT and CTA qualified
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* Client awareness - ability to build professional long lasting relationships
* Commercial awareness and the ability to spot cross selling opportunities - experience of commercial transactions
* Good interpersonal skills
* Good presentation skills
* Energy and enthusiasm
* Previous VAT consultancy experience and extensive VAT knowledge
* Proven experience of leading innovation and informing sound decisions

The role is based in Poole but offers scope to work out of any of the local offices and will involve a degree of travel in order to cultivate new client relationships while managing existing engagements
