This is an opportunity to become the No. 2 for a very large multinational?s tax team in Johannesburg, South Africa. The plan is that this person would become No. 1 when the current Head of Tax for Africa retires in the next few years.
The Tax Manager for South Africa will take responsibility for all tax issues in the country, including local & cross-border tax planning & financing and additional projects working with the Treasury team. The role interacts with local businesses & liaises with Joint Ventures and requires someone who can build positive relationships. A strong personality is required, along with an interest in helping to shape the current department structure & to integrate the team more into the wider, global tax function.
Applications are welcome from tax professionals with South African (and ideally cross-border) tax experience, gained in a big 4 firm or within the tax department of a large corporate.
