The Structured Arbitrage desk of this leading Investment Bank is currently looking for a highly motivated, tax-trained professional who would like an opportunity to break into a front office role within a global financial institution. The role is to provide tax advice to the Structured Arbitrage trading desk which forms part of the Delta-1/Prime Services division. The role has a strong European bias, including new European markets, but can also extends to cover global issues. Based in London on the equity trading floor, the team is the primary point of contact for all tax-related queries resulting in a fast paced, demanding working environment. Due to the impact of tax on trading activities, this role is highly visible and requires solid all-round communication skills in addition to the ability to integrate and work closely with traders. Duties & Responsibilities: Assist in identifying and developing new trading structures and strategies; Working with external tax advisors to obtain local market advice and tax opinions where necessary; Analysing/advising on tax consequences of capital market events; Liaising with marketing teams to understand clients requirements and review/approve external presentations; Understanding/communicating the impact of changes in tax rules and regulations on the desk's trading activities; Running various ad-hoc projects that impact the trading desk, including liaison with internal departments/resources and presenting to internal committees for approval; Handling day to day tax-related queries from the equity floor; Interface for the desk with various internal departments, including the internal tax department, compliance, legal and operations
About you
ACA/CTA Qualified (or similar) tax trained professional; Strong tax technical knowledge (including a good understanding of international tax aspects and the operation of double tax treaties); Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to develop and maintain strong internal/external relationships; Flexible work ethic with the desire to take responsibility for personal deliverables; Strong team orientation.
