The Corporate Tax Department is accountable for all the UK tax compliance matters of the London Branch and the various UK subsidiary companies. The Tax Department also oversees tax compliance in the EMEA locations and has New York reporting requirements. The Department provides advice to the business areas of the bank and is involved with various ad hoc assignments.
The successful applicant will be in charge for managing a team of three and completing the following tasks:
* Review all corporation tax computations to be submitted to HMRC and certain other EMEA locations.
* Review all tax provisions, including the FRS19 note and other disclosures, for the statutory accounts and liaising with the external auditors.
* Review and oversee the monthly processes for tax provisions and journals to be booked to the general ledger.
* Review and oversee the quarterly process for US reporting, to ensure completed on time and accurate.
* Monitor and manage the GPA with HMRC.
* Review the quarterly POA calculations and ensure payment is made on time to HMRC.
* Preparing forecasts for planning purposes, including group relief allocations.
* Review and preparation of replies to HMRC enquiries.
* Maintenance of the tax compliance status report.
The applicant must be an experienced tax professional who should ideally have previous banking experience. The applicant should also ideally have relevant professional accounting/ tax qualifications and have experience of Alphatax. Furthermore, the applicant should possess good correspondence skills and be able to work to strict deadlines in a proactive manner.
