This role, within the Indirect Tax team for this Top 10 accountancy firm, can be based in either their Manchester or Liverpool office. As the VAT Assistant you will work closely with both the VAT Consultant and Senior Manager within the team. You will be given first class on the job training and responsibility at an early stage. This will ensure that before long you will be able to assist with the delivery of projects and demonstrate sufficient technical knowledge to undertake a relevant piece of work and produce well supported technical research. Working under the guidance of more senior members of the team, you will also attend meetings and complete technical research for VAT cases and client work. The successful candidate will be looking for their first role within the tax profession and must have Maths & English Language (at B level or above) at GCSE and 240 UCAS points from 3 В‘AВ’ Levels (not including general studies). Candidates who are degree educated and experienced in tax functions or accountancy firms or banks will also be considered.
Please note that only those applicants who have a legal right to work in the UK and have an appropriate amount of practical relevant UK tax experience will be considered for this role. Additionally candidates who are already registered with us will be automatically considered for this role.

Joanna Longman is a VAT specialist and was previously Regional Head of VAT at one of the Big 4 firms before becoming VAT Director of a large local practice in the North West. She has been an active member of various chapters of the VAT Practitioners Group.
