Tax Technical Manager - Flexible Location - to £80k

We are working with a leading Accountancy firm who are looking to recruit an experienced Tax Technical Manager to work with existing Tax fee-earners across the UK.

Location flexible around the Midlands, London and the North West

You will be a member of the National Tax team responsible for developing the firm’s intellectual property in the corporate tax arena, to be a key player in maintaining standards and managing risk of the tax practice, and to be a key point of contact for members of the practice.

This is a high profile role within the firm, with a wide ranging remit covering both technical and non-technical issues. The role will involve helping to shape their tax practice. Key aspects of the role include:

Critically identifying relevant developments and opportunities of interest to corporate tax specialists and clients through our blog. Drafting suitably intelligible internal corporate tax technical updates, both as part of our weekly highlights, and more lengthy analyses in tax flashes. This also includes identifying developments which require an update to our policies and procedures
Development of opportunities to help grow tax fee income, including new ideas to take to market, such as marketing material, aides and toolkits and help capture more knowledge internally to avoid duplication of effort. Involvement in other projects to improve the way in which the tax practice operates (optimising the use of technology).
Being a champion for high standards and quality outputs within the tax practice, both through the setting of policy and monitoring the quality of our tax advice nationally, as part of a wider team. Helping to shape the way we assess quality within the firm.
Being a point of contact for members of the tax practice on tax technical or standards and risk management related issues.
Involvement in presentations on technical issues or standards and risk management issues affecting the tax practice.
This is a senior and influential role within the firm and we are looking for a person who can help us develop our tax practice. In particular, we are looking for the following:

·CTA and/ or ACA

·An experienced corporate tax manager or senior manager, with excellent technical skills in mainstream corporate tax work including OMBs

·Self starter who can take on projects and is committed to delivery

·Excellent technical skills in corporate tax and tax accounting

·Ability to analyse and explain new legislation and other technical developments in a comprehensible manner

·Someone who want to make a positive difference

·Enthusiasm for growing the tax practice and adding value to our tax offering

·Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

·Thorough and orderly work style with meticulous attention to detail

·Good understanding of risk management issues

·Good team player

·Flexible and prepared to ‘pitch in’ to a variety of projects

·It will be an advantage to be technologically versatile.
