Sr. Manager - EMEA VAT, Ingersoll Rand, Brussels

Job Summary:

Ingersoll-Rand seeks a Senior Tax Manager - VAT based in Brussels. This is the lead role for all EMEA VAT matters. The primary responsibility of this position will be the management of the day-to-day activities as well as participate in global projects and strategy. This position will manage a VAT Compliance team comprised of 4 people based in Dublin. The role reports to the Director, Global Tax Compliance and Reporting, based in the USA.

Responsibilities include:

- Lead the VAT team and partner closely with Direct Tax, the business and other corporate functions to address a broad range of VAT matters within the region, ranging from effective and practical support for day-to-day queries, VAT planning, and more extensive technical VAT support on company initiatives such as supply chain restructuring, new market entry, acquisitions/divestitures etc.
- Responsible for the filing of VAT returns, European Sales Listings and Intrastat returns for all of the legal entities live on Oracle R12/Vertex in EMEA, through the effective management of the EMEA VAT operations team in Dublin
- Responsible for the on-boarding of the VAT activities in the central EMEA VAT operations team at each go-live of Oracle R12/Vertex from all legal entities across
- Assist with the roll out of Vertex in EMEA, including but not limited to :

Partner with the business, functions, and direct tax and transfer pricing teams to develop and communicate indirect tax requirements
Validate through the testing cycles the current tax treatment of the requirements and transaction flows and correct where needed

- Partner with various stakeholders (business finance, Record To Report, internal audit) in view of the trading platform model and its impact on the indirect tax delivery model
- Provide VAT technical input to the trading platform group and actively participate in the implementation of the new trading platform model. Identify and pursue VAT efficiencies / opportunities within the region. Implement and maintain a VAT control framework throughout the region, including implementation and maintenance of KPI tracking and periodical management report out. Manage major VAT audits within the region.
- Monitor legislative, case law, and other changes in VAT guidance or practice, determine the impact to the company and effectively implement where necessary. Follow up on upcoming changes in VAT legislation and their impact on the organization.

Qualifications:

- Degree in economics or accounting - masters level preferred - with a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience. Prior experience with advanced indirect tax technology.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills. Fluency in English is a must.
- Hands on, problem solver, result oriented but focused on customer satisfaction.
- Team player, able to work in a high paced, cross-cultural environment.
- Resistant to stress, able to work independently and manage competing assignments.
- Prior people management experience would be an asset.
- Willingness to travel, 25% to 35% mainly to Dublin
