Assistant Manager - Japanese team (Global Mobility Tax Services)

Simpson Booth are representing a big 4 Professional Services firm who are looking to expand their Japanese Global Mobility Service (GMS) practice in London. They are looking for an Assistant Manager and a Manager to join their team.

Our client works with a large and diverse range of Japanese companies and assist with a variety of advisory and compliance services. Responsibilities will include UK income tax returns, managing projects and high-profile engagements on a global basis. You will be client facing and as such will be a high-calibre individual who is ambitious, confident and enjoy leading junior team members.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Building great relationships with Finance Managers and HR Managers of Japanese companies
- Speaking at client seminars and workshops
- Working with managers to develop publication materials targeted for Japanese companies
- With managers, advise on cross-border individual tax and social security implications
- Identifying risk issues relevant to our clients and helping to mitigate these
- Project managing the compliance process

Qualifications and Skills

- ACA/CTA (part) qualified, Japanese Certified Public Tax Accountant or equivalent

Experience and Background

- UK / Japanese tax background and understanding of Japanese professional practices and business customs
- Energetic, committed, and ambitious
- High level of personal responsibility and accountability for own work
- Capacity to provide clear directions, to offer and receive positive, constructive feedback
- Analytical; identifies core issues, investigates, evaluates and integrates information
- Communicates with impact, both in speech and writing, and in a way that is open, honest, consistent, and clear
- Safeguards and enhances the reputation of KPMG through the quality of work, knowledge and experience
- Excellent written and spoken English as well as Japanese (equivalent to JLPT N1)
