The IBFD Knowledge Centre is home to most of the tax specialists within IBFD. It is a publications and research department with staff engaged in updating and reviewing IBFD’s publications, conducting research in international tax, and lecturing on various tax topics. The Knowledge Centre is comprised of several Knowledge Groups focused either on particular geographic regions or on specialist international tax topics. The research staff of the Knowledge Centre is drawn from all over the world, mainly having expertise in the tax systems of various countries, as well as specialisation in key areas of taxation.

Currently, we have an opening for the challenging position of:

Senior Associate Europe

The European Knowledge Group is part of the IBFD’s Knowledge Centre, and home to the IBFD's best-known publications on Europe, such as the European Tax Surveys; the European Taxation journal; and the ECJ Direct Taxes Case Law database. The European Knowledge Group is also responsible for several publications and products concerning corporate transactions, as relate to Europe. These include the following subject areas: Permanent Establishments, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Holding companies.

The successful applicant will have responsibility for his/her own publication portfolio and country portfolio. As this portfolio contains a heavy focus on corporate taxation, we are seeking someone with at least 5 years’ experience in an in-house tax role within a company’s tax department.

Responsibilities and activities
 Writing notes, articles, surveys, updates, and other analytical material on the assigned portfolio of European countries, on EU tax law and international tax law for IBFD publications
 Undertaking high quality technical editorial work on assigned publications and research reports
 Editorial review of the work of other editors in the Knowledge Group
 Providing tax expertise for development of new content and tools, and for tax research projects
 Monitoring and reporting on tax, investment and company law developments in countries of responsibility
 Providing answers to client queries and management of client accounts
 Providing occasional support to other departments of IBFD, e.g. the International Tax Training and the Government Consultancy Department

Requirements
 At least 5 years’ in-house experience
 Knowledge of and experience with the tax law of at least one European country
 Experience in a supervisory role regarding tax technical content
 University degree in law or other relevant area (an LLM or other post graduate degree in international tax is an advantage)

Skills
 Excellent writing and editorial skills
 Significant experience with legal drafting in the English language
 Excellent command of the English language (knowledge of other European languages will be an advantage)
 Excellent project management skills

Salary & fringe benefits

We offer a full-time position with a salary, depending on background and relevant work experience, between EUR 4,500 and EUR 6,000 gross per month.
