Deputy Director – International Taxes, States of Jersey

The Role

Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, situated 14 miles off the north-west coast of France and 85 miles from the English coast. With a population of around 100,000, Jersey is a self-governing Crown Dependency with its own financial, legal and judicial systems.

An exciting role has been created at the States of Jersey Taxes Office. We need a Deputy Director of International Taxes to join the growing tax team. You will be responsible for acting as one of Jersey’s competent authorities with respect to its international tax agreements. Working closely with the Director and Senior Officers of the Chief Minister’s Department you will play a leading role in assisting with negotiating international tax agreements, implementing related tax strategy and delivering sensitive operations arising from them.

You will work closely with the Director of International Taxes to ensure the effective implementation of Jersey’s International Tax agreements. You will assist in managing a growing team handling the sensitive and often legally-challenged exchange of information about investments, structures and activities in Jersey by overseas residents, working closely with the Law officers and the Island’s financial institutions.

The role will suit a technically strong International tax specialist looking for a role allowing them to have immediate and direct impact on tax policy. You will be excited by the challenge of working directly with Tax Policy from devising it to implementing it. You will have a solid understanding of cross border taxes, double tax agreements and broader international tax principles. You will work directly with International bodies and attend meetings with different Tax Authorities and the OECD.

You will be a credible, confident individual able to represent the States of Jersey at an International level. Your communication skills will be exceptional and you will have ability to train and develop more junior members of staff.
