VAT Manager (Umsatzsteuer)

Our client is one of the largest companies in its sector in Europe with activities focused on the development of green products, and energy-saving and environmentally friendly products. This is an opportunity for a proactive VAT professional to join his team in Remscheid. The tax department has a great reputation within the company, giving them freedom to be proactive and think ahead to boost the business.

The role will be mainly focused on VAT business partnering. When topics come up you need to provide a practical response to solve challenges. The business needs regular support for new flows and new structures. Also there are new VAT rules coming into many different countries, e.g. China- so you would need to work with IT professionals to solve these legislative changes. The role will be 60% international VAT and 40% German VAT. It will be a combination of project management and business advice.

The indirect tax world is changing and they need a VAT professional with good process knowledge and the ability to understand the value chain. They have automated a lot of the VAT reporting and compliance to the press of a button, but there is a need to do some spot checks.

Ideally you will have a minimum of 3 years VAT experience (they can train you up) but ideally you will have a bit more experience. The Steuerberater exam would be an advantage although not essential if you bring other skills. Good IT skills are needed, especially experience with SAP. Ideally you will have VAT-relevant settings in the FI, SD and MM modules. The ability to speak German and English is required.
